Work Anywhere, Adventure Everywhere: Exploring the market for an opportunity to help young professionals reach their travel dreams without breaking the bank.
Young working professionals are unable to travel as much as they’d like to due to minimal vacation time and budget restrictions.
The Research Plan:
What kind of travel experiences are young professionals looking for and what is keeping them from fulfilling those goals?

-
Young working professionals are very limited by the amount of vacation time they are given
-
They are eager to travel and want to have new experiences.
-
They desire a better way to balance work and leisure, they want to disconnect in their off time
-
They highly value reviews from other users and word of mouth and enjoy sharing their previous trip details with friends
What We Learned:

What would empower you to book a work trip?
I think apps are lacking in having an organizational system even at the top of like, how long do you want to stay? Or like how much money do you want to spend? And workplace confidentiality, is that a concern? If I could sort through that and then have their recommendations it would cut out a lot of time and stress. -K

Defining the User
User | Need | Product | Insight
We believe that young professionals are not feeling confident about their ability to travel within their time and financial constraints, despite their desire for new experiences. We might be able to help if we offer a way for them to budget their travel expenses and provide opportunities to work remotely abroad.
We might do this by developing an app that curates a selection of verified remote work friendly places/itineraries within a customized budget set by the user. Doing this will allow young professionals to confidently travel while still earning money, extend their vacation time and experience new things.

What if there was an ai that took my travel wish list and found ways to make it happen with my set budget?
User Persona
What if travel apps could book accommodations and co-working offices all in one?
Using the I Like, I Wish, What If and a Prioritization Matrix method we determined:
1. Budgeting was a primary user need Remotely could address.
2. Young Professionals need to feel like travel while working is feasible.

Conclusions: The most high impact low complexity solutions all centred around a budgeting feature to guide the user and a way to filter by work related necessities when looking at bookings.

Meet Sophie Mitchell
One of the concerns with our app was the onboarding process, if it was too long or confusing users might feel frustrated and exit, a pain point expressed in our interviews. We needed a quick easy onboarding that still collected all the data required to start populating their home screen.

With some wireframing and low fidelity prototypes we were able to perform some user tests and preference tests and iterate based on the feedback.

The tone of the language we used needed to be more encouraging and less informational.
Colourful friendly graphics made a very positive difference in how they felt their onboarding experience was.
Dot indicators were preferred over numbered pages, users felt more overwhelmed by numbers
